About

The Chorus

We had our beginning in 1981 with a group of local music enthusiasts, organized to provide an opportunity for professional and amateur singers to get together to sing, learn, and share their love of music.

Our members not only represent North Reading, but many communities on the North Shore and in the Merrimack Valley.

We enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship with Aldersgate United Methodist Church, which has been our rehearsal space and concert hall for several years. We are entirely separate from the church organizationally. The chorus is non-sectarian and performs music from a variety of religious and secular traditions.

Throughout the years, IRCC has performed different styles of music and our repertoire grows with every new production.  Selections are drawn from many sources:

  • Film
  • Broadway
  • Folk
  • Jazz
  • Blues
  • Classical
  • Madrigal
  • Traditional
  • Patriotic
  • Religious
  • Holiday Themes
  • Popular tunes both past and present

If you love to sing, join us and see what we are about!

The Community

We are a non-profit organization, providing entertainment for the community.  We have participated in local events, such as The Fourth of July Festival, Christmas Caroling and Relay for Life.  Beyond  that, we also fund scholarships for the musically talented high school students in town. Each year, we work with North Reading High School to identify and recognize those who have shown exceptional musical skill and leadership.

The Chorus Community

The chorus members enjoy spending time together outside of rehearsal. We have a few larger get togethers each year in addition to our usual: pub night! Members gather to enjoy each other’s company at local establishments after rehearsal every other week.  Wonderful new friendships are made on Monday evenings in North Reading!
