The Ipswich River Community Chorus presents, “The Many Moods of Christmas”.  Robert Shaw arranged four suites of popular Christmas carols to include: Joy to the World, Patapan, Silent Night, What Child is This, Angels We Have Heard on High, etc.  We are also singing, Believe, Caroling, Caroling, Hanukkah Flame, O Holy Night, Baby Born in Bethlehem and two fun PDQ Bach pieces, “Throw the Yule Log On, Uncle John” and “Good King Kong Looked Out”. Finally, we are performing the well-known, Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah, but a “Soulful” gospel version!

Introducing the Ipswich River Community Chorus!

Exciting news!  The North Reading Community Chorale has changed it’s name to the Ipswich River Community Chorus! The group itself and the quality music you’ve grown accustomed to has not changed, just the name.

Why the change?  As a group, we felt that having “North Reading” in the name was too specific and didn’t actually encompass the true makeup of the members.  As of 2017, the majority of singers were from towns outside of North Reading!  We want to continue to grow and gain additional members, so this name change will help attract singers from surrounding towns.

Why Ipswich River Community Chorus?  The Ipswich River is a major landmark in North Reading and it also runs from Burlington to Ipswich.  It just so happens that we have members from Burlington, Ipswich and many of the towns it runs through!  Additionally, changing the word “chorale” to “chorus” will make it easier for interested singers to find us in a standard Google search.

Rest assured, the artistic leadership remains the same, with our director, Johnny Nichols, Jr. and pianist, Miles Goldberg.  The seasonal performances you’ve enjoyed through the years will continue this winter with performances on December 2nd and 3rd.  The chorus will be performing many traditional carols from the Many Moods of Christmas suites as well as some gospel pieces including an arrangement by Quincy Jones of “Hallelujah”.

If you love to sing and are interested in learning more about the group, join us for the open rehearsals scheduled for September 11th and 18th at 7:00PM.  Rehearsals take place in the hall at the Aldersgate Church at 235 Park St. in North Reading.  No auditions!  We love to welcome new singers to our group no matter what the level of experience!

Sounds of New England

The North Reading Community Chorale is proud to present its spring concert!

Sounds of New England

Join us as we take you through the musical sounds of the New England area.  The music includes compositions from such well known artists as John Williams, Irving Berlin and Steven Tyler. It also includes some surprises!  Did you know that Jingle Bells was composed in Medford, Massachusetts?

In addition to regional composers, the music will also highlight the landscapes of the New England and surrounding areas.  The Cape Breton Lullaby takes the listener to the island off of Nova Scotia with descriptions of driftwood, night winds and flowing streams.

Rounding out the performance will be popular music from local artists such as Dream On (Aerosmith), Love is a Wonderful Thing (Michael Bolton) and You’ve Got a Friend (Carole King)!
